The Dunedin Highland Games and Festival Committee, consisting of volunteers and supporters, formed in 1965, raises funds to support the three bands of Dunedin: The City of Dunedin Pipe Band, The Dunedin High School Scottish Highlander Band, and The Dunedin Highland Middle School Band to improve, develop, and maintain the standards and quality of Dunedin’s Highland Games and associated activities. The Games and Festivals also serve to entertain the public while informing them of the Scottish culture. Corporate and community financial support ensures the continuation of the games into the future for the pleasure of the attendees and the participants.
These Highland games bring together the rich heritage of the Scottish, Irish, and Welsh cultures to the West Coast of Florida. It is held annually on the first Saturday in April, at Dunedin’s beautiful Highlander Park. Visitors can experience and enjoy Highland dancing, individual piping and drumming, pipe bands, and the thrill of Scottish athletic events in a friendly competitive environment.
